What is it?
This year’s Cumbria Steam Gathering takes place on 26th and 27th July at Cark Airfield in Flookburgh.
This is the 42nd year that the Cumbria Steam Gathering has taken place. The event creates a colourful and noisy weekend where steam engines, vintage commercial vehicles, tractors, farm machinery and stationary engines gather together, along with motorcycles, military vehicles and pedal cycles.
There will be a main arena where vehicles will parade, and a working arena where ploughing, cultivating, woodsawing and haymaking machinery will be on display. On both days there will even be a chance for visitors to have a go at driving one of the traction engines.
As well as vehicles, the Cumbria Steam Gathering will feature a craft exhibition, a food hall with local producers and live music from the Pantonic All Stars steel band. There will be hot food and a licensed bar available throughout the weekend. Real ale fans should make sure they give the Steam Gathering Ale a try.
