What is it?
Clogfest, which this year takes place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July, is the only festival exclusively for step-clogging. It takes place in Skipton, North Yorkshire, with performances popping up across the town over the weekend.
Clog dancers from all over the country will be gathering for the festival to celebrate this traditional form of dance. Using the heels and toes to tap out a rhythm, clog dancing probably originated with mill workers tapping along to the sound of the machinery.
Performances will take place on Saturday at 10.30am, 11.15am, 12pm and 1.30pm. There will also be a showcase with all the step-clogging teams from 2.15pm until 4pm at the canal basin. On the Sunday performances will take place in the grounds of Skipton Castle from 11am until 3pm (there is an admission charge to the castle).
