What is it?
The Chap Olympiad, one of Britain’s most eccentric sporting events, takes place in Bedford Square, London on Saturday 12th July 2014. It will be the 10th year that the annual gathering of elegant and unathletic chaps has taken place.
The Chap Olympiad is a ‘celebration of sporting ineptitude and immaculate trouser creases’ which rewards panache rather than sporting prowess, and requires the minimum of physical exertion. Events are designed to separate the chaps from the cads. Gentlemen (and ladies) compete to win the coveted bronze, silver and gold cravats or take a self-congratulatory puff of the Olympiad pipe.
Expect eccentric and silly games such as the cucumber sandwich discus, the Martini relay and umbrella jousting. The dress code for the event, as one might expect, is elegant finery, period military wear, formal wear and dandy wear. No casual clothing or sportswear will be allowed, except for cricketing whites.
Those guests who wish to extend their merriment into the wee hours, a joint ticket covering entry to both the Chap Olympiad and The Blitz Party is available. The Blitz Party will take place at Village Underground from 8pm until 2am and a joint ticket for both events costs £35.
The Chap Olympiad is organised by The Chap magazine, a magazine for the modern English gent.
Why not polish your monocle, don your finest tweed and head to The Chap Olympiad?
