What is it?
Head to the Royal Academy in London on 21st June for a curious evening of art, music and performance.
A Midsummer Night’s Fête will welcome guests in the Courtyard with a village fête from a bygone era, courtesy of The Vintage Mafia. There will be stalls and music from The Candid Jug Orange Band. Don’t miss Mr Smith’s Letterpress workshop and the poetry takeaway van where you can order up your own personal poem.
Once inside the Royal Academy guests can enjoy a mix of jazz and folk from The Gabby Young Trio whilst perusing the Summer Exhibition. Guest can also enjoy a walk through Lora Avedian‘s oversized flower installations, Whodunnknit‘s playful yarn bombing, and try to win some arty prizes playing artist bingo. Watch out for roaming performances from Frog Morris, along with Calum F Kerr, Daniel Lehan and Joanna McCormick.
Join Art Macabre in the 19th century Life Drawing Room, as they host one of their popular and quirky ‘death drawing’ salons, giving the opportunity for visitors to get creative. Head down to the hidden Victorian vaults of the academy for a silent disco or chill out in the Keeper’s House, with drinks and bar snacks available until midnight.
