When: 21st & 22nd June 2014, 12pm – 5pm
Where: Morecambe seafront, Lancashire
What is it?
The annual Catch the Wind Kite Festival takes place in Morecambe on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd June. The festival will have an array of kites in all shapes and sizes flying over the beach.
In addition to the kites there will be live music, stalls and art activities. The kites will be flown from the beach near the Midland Hotel, and the live music will come from a stage set up outside The Platform venue.
The kite festival takes advantage of the tides, winds and weather, which create good flying conditions at this time of year. During the day the skies will be full of the most spectacular shapes and colours, as all kinds of kites are flown.
Live music on the Saturday will include Lake Komo, the Daniel Ray Band, Leo Harris and The Bray Katz, the More Music Folk Group, Youth Orbit and Baksheesh. Sunday’s music line up will include Schøøltrip, Greenheart, The Howling Clowns and Joe McCorriston
