What is it?
The annual Port Eliot Dog Festival & Whippet Tea Party will take place in Cornwall on 10th May.
The festival, hosted by Port Eliot dogs Roo and Lark, will have a dog show with classes beginning at midday. There will be an array of stalls, cream teas and other refreshments. In addition there will be musical entertainment, a treasure hunt and other activities for children. The Whippet Tea Party is a special picnic, hosted by Roo the whippet, which dogs come from far and wide to enjoy.
The house will be open to visitors from 2pm to 5pm on the day, admission will cost £5. The House was formerly known as Port Priory and in the Middle Ages it was a flourishing monastic port. Built and modified over the centuries the house received a major refit in the 18th century by Sir John Soane.
Port Eliot Dog Festival & Whippet Tea Party is held in support of the Children’s Hospice South West‘s Precious Lives Appeal, raising funds for the new hospice ‘Little Harbour’, near St Austell. Last year the event was attended by hundreds of dogs and their owners, raising over £4,000.
