What is it?
Focallocal, a group which brings busy people together to make positive changes to their cities, is hosting its most important event to date. Their aim? To build the London-based social project into a worldwide movement.
On Saturday 19th April, the group will take over the Caravanserai in Canning Town from 2pm for a day of free activities aimed at bringing Londoners together in a positive community spirited environment. The day will include live music, (responsible) drinking games, a pillow fight, and painting of the Focallocal van in preparation for taking the concept on the road. There will also be some skills sharing opportunities, which may include anything from languages to martial arts and circus skills.
Focallocal was set up to bring communities closer and make the world a better place. Founder Andy Tulett said: “Most people want to be involved in making the world a better place, but modern life is busy and we are often afraid of committing to a social project or charity. At Focallocal you can join in whenever you have some free time, and set up events with like-minded people and collectively find ways to improve your locality. This could be helping the homeless, cleaning a local area, or just sharing a fun activity with people around you while making new friends who care about the world. That’s what we’re trying to achieve with this weekend’s event.”
