When: 26th March 2014, 6.01pm – late
Where: Mr Fogg’s, 15 Bruton Lane, London W1J 6JD
What is it?
On Wednesday 26th March, Mr Fogg and his household staff, in support of their American friends across the pond, will host a unique evening fit for any southern belle or beau.
Kentucky Day hosted in association with Bulleit Bourbon and Bulleit Rye, will be full of all-American cheer. Guests will be welcomed by a Louisville-inspired band who will play at intervals throughout the evening, with numbers to include the classic My Old Kentucky Home, usually performed at the celebrated Kentucky Derby Day Parade. Mr Fogg is expected to put in a long-awaited appearance himself, to join in with the song and dance.
Mr Fogg’s household staff will be decked out in sumptuous Southern colonel uniforms, with glittering buttons and epaulettes galore. Not content with simply looking the part, they will be serving up meat loaf canapés, mini burgers and two Bulleit tipples created by Mr Fogg in honour of this delightful day.
Guests can enjoy a Bulleit Vardier, made with oak barrel-aged Bulleit Rye, Professore vermouth, Barolo Chinato, Campari, orange bitters and garnished with orange zest, or a Kentucky Snapper, a punchy blend of Bulleit Bourbon, absinthe, lemon juice, fig jam, sugar syrup shaken on a block of ice and garnished with burned sugar and star anise.
Mr Fogg’s is a recreation of the Victorian home of Jules Verne’s most famous adventurer, Phileas Fogg. Modelled on the very Mayfair house in which Phileas would have lived after travelling Around the World in 80 Days, the bar is refined but at the same time truly off-the-wall, breathing liveliness and fun into the area.
