What is it?
This half term, At-Bristol will be buzzing with life as it celebrates all things spring, with plenty of activities to keep the busiest of little bees happy.
At-Bristol’s Live Lab area has been transformed to become a hive of activity for their Spring Alive event; celebrating nature’s party season by taking a ‘sciencey’ look at living things. Visitors can investigate plants, dissect daffodils, examine eggs and start their own mini garden with some simple seed activities.
The Live Lab will also be playing host to the hatchery, with some hatching eggs on display throughout the holiday period. Visitors can see the new arrivals and may even be lucky enough to catch them as they hatch.
The brand new Bubble Blast live science show will run several times a day during half term. Visitors can learn about the science of bubbles as they float, plop, pop or burst in to flames. Willing volunteers will of course be required! Both Bubble Blast and Spring Alive are included free with general admission to At-Bristol.
Visitors can also take a trip to the stars in the Planetarium, and enjoy a guided trip around the solar system with the Winter Night Sky show. Little explorers are welcome to join in with an interactive story full of exciting sights and sounds in the Little Stars show, perfect for introducing younger adventurers to the wonders of the night sky. Planetarium shows cost £1.50 and Little Stars costs £1, with booking in advance recommended.
Free face-painting will take place on 19th and 20th February. The 2nd floor of At-Bristol will also be opened up from Monday to Friday to accommodate extra picnic areas, buggy storage, cloakrooms and additional café space.
