What is it?
Taking East London’s Pulse is a free talk which will uncover the rich content of London’s Pulse. London’s Pulse is an online resource containing over 5000 searchable reports detailing the health of Londoners in intimate detail. These reports date from 1848 to 1973 and show data about births, deaths, diseases, occupations, personal interests and the diversity of communities.
The talk at Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archive will be themed around East London and will illustrate the health of the area over the last 150 years, drawing upon the fascinating content of the library and archives as well as the records from London’s Pulse.
Speakers at the event will be Ross MacFarlane, Research Engagement Officer at the Wellcome Library and Malcolm Barr-Hamilton, Borough Archivist at Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives.
This event is part of a series of four and each talk will highlight material specific to one area of London and will therefore be unique. The programme will feature Kensington and Chelsea in February, Southwark in March and Camden in April.
