What is it?
Fishguard in Pembrokeshire is to host the UK’s first film festival dedicated to Spaghetti Westerns this February. Seven classic and cult Spaghetti Western movies will be screened in their original 35mm format at the Theatr Gwaun, including the original version of Django, a movie banned in this country until 1993.
The Fishguard Spaghetti Western Film Festival will also have a Fringe that includes an exhibition of Spaghetti Western poster art, and an Ennio Morricone music night at Peppers on the Friday. There will also be talks from experts of the genre, an epic quiz on the Sunday and on Saturday there will be a western themed after-movie party with live music from Memphis Belle at Ffwrn. You can also make your own western inspired costumes on Saturday afternoon, just in time for the party.
Theatr Gwaun is being supported to produce this event by Xanadu, best known in Wales for the Porthcawl Elvis Festival and in Ireland for Tedfest, the phenomenally successful homage to Father Ted.
