What is it?
The London Capital Club, an exclusive members club on Abchurch Lane, is running a special event on 23rd January open to members of the public.
The club will be teaming up with Pernod Picard Liquor to host a screening of Passion for Snow, an award-winning documentary. Executive producer of the film, Stephen Waterhouse, will be present to introduce the film and for a Q&A after the screening.
The film will highlight how alpine ski racing started and some of the connections to Sir Arnold Lunn, the British originator of big time alpine ski racing in the 1920s. Passion for Snow’s subject matter also includes the creation of mountain ski resorts by ski troop veterans of WWII and provides a unique explanation of how the Paralympics evolved from the start of disabled skiing in the 1950s-60s to the special activities of today. You will see unexpected connections to “snow”, discover the unknown sporting history of the Von Trapp family and be moved by tales of extraordinary determination and courage.
As a salute to Sochi, Russian liquor and delicious hot canapés will be available.
