What is it?
Now in its 11th year, the London Short Film Festival aims to showcase the most cutting-edge independent films in the UK.
This year’s festival will take place at twenty independent, quirky and cool venues in London over ten days with film shorts, live music, training and parties. Venues include Bar Kino, Ciné Lumière, the Horniman Museum, Rich Mix, the Rio Cinema and The Aubin Cinema.
Highlights of the festival include:
NEW SHORTS #4 SHORT LONGES at the Hackney Picturehouse Attic
Spend a relaxed afternoon with a series of longer form drama shorts. Enjoy some varied cinematic treats, including new work from comedian Josie Long and the hit sci-fi epic Hereafter starring Lydia Wilson from Misfits. The films will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Following the films there will be a club night with music from forgotten films and cinematic classics with stunning visuals as the backdrop.

NEW SHORTS #9 THRILLER! at the Rio Cinema
Fancy a late night thrill ride with drug deals, gangsters, assassins and chases? Then these tense stories at the Rio Cinema may be just your thing. Includes The Monkey Cage, a new drug-fuelled fiction short by award-winning Bill Hicks documentary director Matt Harlock and Keeping Up with the Jonses featuring Maxine Peake and Four Lions’ Adeel Akhtar.

AN EVENING WITH SERAFINA STEER at the Horniman Museum
Harpist and songwriter Serafina Steer will be performing alongside a selection of short films at The Pavilion, located in the gardens of the wonderful Horniman Museum.

SCALARAMA: I WANT TO BE A CINEMA + KINO BINGO at Hackney Picturehouse Attic
Scalarama and LSFF will be teaming up for an interactive workshop for all those who want to screen films. There will be a presentation covering programming, venues, promotion and sustainability as well as a chance to workshop your own ideas. The event will give people the opportunity to network and have a game of Kino Bingo!

MAKING TRACKS: Retrospective + party at Rich Mix
Join Whirlygig Cinema and The Cabinet at Rich Mix for a selection of short films and live scores. The Cabinet uses a wide range of instruments to add a new dimension to the visuals, creating an invigorating live experience. Enjoy the films and live music before carrying on the party with music from Shut the Front Door DJs, accompanied by live visuals from Emily Bailey.

NEW SHORTS #17 LONDON LIVES at Ciné Lumière
This selection of short films aims to show off the glory and diversity of our capital city. See the dark side of the city in animated documentary Act of Terror or the happier side with The Other Side of the Road.
