What is it?
Between the Lines is a new, short, powerful play inspired by and using poetry of the First World War. Written and performed by New Company‘ s artistic director, Simon de Deney and directed by David Banks, it takes a refreshing and surprising look at the life of an ordinary soldier in the Great War.
Between the Lines features poetry by, amongst others, Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, Isaac Rosenberg and Rupert Brooke.
New Company aims to produce new work that springs from current events; using new writers, directors, actors, designers and composers who are mentored by more experienced professionals in their respective fields. Previously Alan Ayckbourn has mentored the director Simon de Deney; Bob Crowley mentored Kate Klinger, and Thelma Holt has mentored Timothy Hughes.
