Find a festive tipple in to celebrate Christmas in the Capital

By Caroline King - November 24, 2013Posted in : Food & Drink

Now the that temperature is dropping and the evenings are dark, you may feel like curling up on the sofa rather than going out; but ’tis the season to be jolly, so why not warm up for Christmas with these suggestions for a festive tipple in London…

Piste - Archer Street - Soho

A winter retreat with Piste in Soho

Festive cocktails at Piste, Archer Street
When: Open from 25th November 2013
Where: Piste at Archer Street, 3-4 Archer Street, Soho, London W1D 7AP
£: Free entry, email to book via bookings@archerstreet.co.uk
What is it?
This winter, get set to journey to the snowy mountains of some of the world’s leading ski resorts, whilst never setting foot outside London.  Archer Street in Soho will be transforming their downstairs area into Piste, a bar which claims to showcase the best of Aspen, St. Anton, Val D’lsere, Verbier and St Moritz all under one roof.
The comforting décor of dark wooden flooring, rafter boards and antique skis decorating the walls will provide a feeling reminiscent of an authentic winter retreat. So relax as you sip of one of Piste’s, perfectly festive cocktails including Let It Sloe, made with sloe gin, lemon, chestnut liqueur, plum liqueur, egg white and grated nutmeg.

Shuttlecock Inc - Christmas party - King's Cross London

Enjoy an 80s themed Christmas party at a secret venue in King’s Cross

Celebrate with a 1980s style Christmas Party at a Secret King’s Cross venue

Where: At a Secret King’s Cross venue
£: Prices from £50 (places are limited, book via create@shuttlecock-inc.com or by phoning 07766 201 568)
What is it?
This December the team behind Mile High, The Great Indian Peninsula Railway and Rumble At The Deli will be organising the ultimate office Christmas party experience for fun-loving groups big and small.
Journeying back in time to the King’s Cross headquarters of the fictional Bolingbroke Franking Machines Ltd in 1989, guests will join the company’s staff of eccentric employees – hair crimped to within an inch of its life and novelty ties at the ready – for an unforgettable evening of drinks, dinner and dancing.  There will even be some explicit photocopying thrown in for good measure.
Stepping out of the cold via an unassuming entrance, revellers will find themselves in the midst of a staggeringly retro Christmas party. The office’s 80s décor of filing cabinets, potted plants and Acorn computers decked out in spray-on snow and plastic holly sprigs for the occasion.
Following a welcome Cinzano & lemonde, dinner will be prepared by Shuttlecock Inc’s very own Ollie Templeton and will include refined winter warmers such as cured duck breast with rhubarb butter and watercress, chicken broth with saffron and crispy morcilla, braised beef shin with cannellini beans, chard and salsa verde and chocolate and raspberry terrine.
There is a minimum group size of 60 people on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  On Mondays & Fridays there is no minimum group size.

Mr Fogg's - Mayfair - Christmas Carol

Join in with Carols at Mr Fogg’s

Enjoy  ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Mr Fogg’s
When: Throughout December 2013
Where: Mr Fogg’s, 15 Bruton Lane, London W1J 6JD
£: Free entry, email reservations@mr-foggs.com in advance
What is it?
For a truly Victorian style Christmas, delve into the world of Dickens and join Mr Fogg and friends in his delightfully decorated drawing-room for A Christmas Carol around the piano.
To warm your winter bellies there shall be a selection of traditional tipples such as wassail punch, mulled wine, mead, port, and warm cider.
Though fear not, for those who have indulged in one to many Christmas cocktails and are struggling to remember each and every word of the chorus, Mr Fogg’s house staff will be handing out a selection of hymn sheets to guests on arrival.
So with stockings hanging by the fire and an ever so classic Christmas tree that Tiny Tim himself would be proud of, the only touch from the tale missing will be Ebenezer Scrooge… Bah humbug!
