What is it?
The town of Whitby, famous for its associations with Bram Stoker’s gothic horror novel, Dracula, and popular with Victorian tourists, provides the perfect backdrop for a weekend celebration of alternative and goth culture. Whitby Goth Weekend has been running since 1994 and has grown from a weekend of musical entertainment to a mix of music, markets and fringe events.
The Whitby Goth Weekend kicks off on Friday with music at the Spa Pavilion from William Control, Fearless Vampire Killers, Ashes to Angels and Bad Pollyanna. On Saturday the music comes in the form of Diary of Dreams, Bella Morte, Rabia Sorda and Method Cell.
In addition to the music there will be a Bizarre Bazaar alternative indoor market. Stalls will be situated at the Spa Pavilion and Leisure Centre from Friday 1st November to Sunday 3rd November. A whole range of items for the goth and alternative scene from jewellery and corsets to artwork and records will be on sale.
Fringe events include club nights playing everything from classic goth and new wave to postpunk and electro.
