What is it?

Award-winning musical comedy duo EastEnd Cabaret are taking up residence at The Russet, a creative, community-led space in the heart of Hackney. Presented as The EastEnd Cabaret Club, it will feature a special guest line-up of new and established acts from East London and beyond in a series of performance nights throughout November and December.

Double act, deviant diva Bernadette Byrne and half-moustachioed musician Victor Victoria, have received various awards and are soon to star in BBC3’s comedy variety show, Live At The Electric.  Having performed their riotous and risqué shows around the world the duo are bringing the cabaret chaos back to the East End of London, with a series of shows for their “neighbourhood” audience.

EastEnd Cabaret - Scott Chalmers EastEnd Cabaret are known for their innovative approach to performance and interaction with the audience, both on and off the stage. This season of three nights will be a continuation of their ideas – experimenting with their own boundaries of cabaret, and showcasing new work from a hand-picked selection of artists, with a particular lean towards those who live and work locally.

A night at The EastEnd Cabaret Club will feature an hour of acclaimed songs and stories from the titular duo, followed by a “lock-in” party with a revolving line-up of performances from the brightest and boldest stars of the cabaret and alternative comedy scene.  With music from the swinging club band Minnie’s Henhouse, and a few other unexpected surprises up their sleeves, the EastEnd Cabaret Club will celebrate the strange, beautiful and wonderfully unpredictable scene that Bernadette and Victy call home.

The Russet is very much a hidden gem of Hackney, offering a locally sourced menu, inspired by the changes of the season.  For the Club nights, there will be specially created cocktails available at the bar, along with their usual sustainably sourced beverages.
