What is it?
The Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival will take place on 7th and 8th September along the South Quay with entertainment including stalls, ships and demonstrations.
There will be a range of local and marine-themed craft and charity stalls including photography, jewellery and pottery. The demonstrations will include traditional rigging techniques, spinning, weaving, and net mending, which visitors to the event can have a go at.
There will be an array of ships at the festival which will be open for visitors to go aboard. The ships include two-masted brig, the Morgenster, a filly square rigged sailing ship; the steam tug Challenge and Great Yarmouth’s very own Lydia Eva.
The Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival will also have live shanty music from three stages with performances from Nine Tenths Below, Baggyrinkle, The Jolly Rogers and the Sheringham Shanty Men.
Further entertainment will come from the Inner State Theatre Company sailing around the crowds, Wrentham Brass Band, Nabjab performing maritime dances and songs, costumed characters, and a Punch and Judy show.
