Extreme Red Bull cliff diving returns to Pembrokeshire

By Caroline King - August 27, 2013Posted in : Alternative Sport, FEATURED-STORIES

Red Bull Cliff Diving - Pembrokeshire When: 14th September 2013

Where: Abereiddy, near St Davids, Pembrokeshire

£: 5

What is it?

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is set to make a splash as it returns to Pembrokeshire in South West Wales for the second year running on Saturday 14th September.  The untouched cliffs and crystal clear waters of the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy, near St Davids will again welcome the pinnacle of cliff diving competitions.

Spectators are welcome to watch the 10 elite divers launch themselves from 27 metres with little other than their exceptional skill and concentration.  They will reach speeds of up to 85kph during three seconds of aesthetically pleasing and gravity-defying free fall as they somersault, flip and twist their way down.

This year will see three British athletes taking part with current champion Gary Hunt returning to defend his title; former Olympian Blake Aldridge back for a second year and last year’s wildcard entry Matt Cowen, who has now secured a place in the series.
