When: 31st August 2013 from 11.45am
Where: Birnam, Perthshire
What is it?
Traditional Scottish Highland games have taken place annually at Birnam Highland Games since 1864.
There will be the heavy events such as Tossing the Caber and Throwing the Hammer which you expect from these type of games but there will also be some special events that are a little more unusual. The World Haggis Eating Championship is one such event and is free for anyone to take part in. The rules are simple, just try to eat the haggis in the fastest possible time to win the grand prize! Another of the special events is the Kiltie Dash, where those at the event wearing a kilt (heavy event competitors, pipers, dancers and stewards) take part in a fun race.
There will also be piping performances at the event from various pipe bands and solo performers, Highland dancing, track and field events including running and cycling, plus a fun fair.
