The eighth annual Isle of Wight Film Festival

By Caroline King - July 20, 2013Posted in : Cinema, Festival

Isle of Wight Film Festival 2013 When: 14th – 17th August 2013

Where: Sacred Cinema, Ventnor High Street, Ventnor, Isle of Wight

£: Tickets can be purchased through the Ventnor Fringe Festival website. Each film ticket can be bought separately.  The Festival Bus Package costs £100 and includes travel from London (by bus and ferry) and camping for five days.  Alternatively, camping can be purchased for £10 per day if four days are purchased.

What is it?

The Isle of Wight Film Festival focuses on ‘bringing people to a beautiful place to watch unforgettable films’.

Drawing attention to humanitarian, environmental and youth issues, this four-day film festival brings people together to a beautiful place to watch unforgettable films.  Projecting over 30 hours of otherwise impossible-to-see footage, it also includes an international short film competition with prizes for Best Human Rights and Best Environmental films.

Formed in 2007, the festival was originally named The Isle of Wight Short Film Festival.  The festival allowed Isle of Wight filmmakers to show their work and compete against each other.  In 2012 the festival announced the addition of feature films and a new environmental section.  The festival moved its location to Ventnor to become part of the Ventnor Fringe Festival under the its new title The Isle of Wight Film Festival.

This year an extra day has been added to allow for international feature films to be shown and a series of educational film making events will be running.
