Clovelly Lifeboat Weekend on 3rd and 4th August is held in aid of the RNLI and is a popular celebration of the Clovelly Lifeboat, Spirit of Clovelly.
The Lifeboat House will be open on both days to the public. On Saturday afternoon there will be a sponsored swim from Bucks Mills to Clovelly, followed by a barbecue.
Sunday will be a family friendly day filled with games, competitions, entertainment, food, drink and music. There will be a coconut shy, a tug of war, a cobble race, a cross dressing-up race, local stalls and children’s activities. In addition there will be a slave auction in which young local men are ‘sold’ to the highest bidder to do their chores for the day.
At the end of the weekend the Spirit of Clovelly will be launched for a demonstration by the volunteer crew. For those wishing to continue the fun there will be a curry, quiz and music by the Smiles Taylor Company in the evening.
