Where: At various locations in Skipton, North Yorkshire
What is it?
Clogfest is the only festival exclusively for step-clogging. It takes place in Skipton with performances happening throughout the weekend across the town.
Clog dancers from all over the country will be gathering for the festival to celebrate this traditional form of dance. Using the heels and toes to tap out a rhythm, clog dancing probably originated with mill workers tapping along to the sound of the machinery.
There will be free displays of the dancing at Skipton Castle, Victoria Square, Craven Court, the Town Hall and canal basin. There will be performances by Addison Clog Dancers, Camden Clog, Carlisle Cloggies, Lancashire Wallopers and Strictly Clog amongst others.
A showcase with all the step-clogging teams will take place between 2.15pm and 4pm at the canal basin on Saturday 13th July.
