Twilight Science at the Royal Society

What is it?

Explore the wonders of the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition in this adult only evening experience.  You will have the opportunity to interact with the exhibits and talk to the scientists as well as having access to many special events arranged for this night only.  The Royal Society will be hosting a night of fun and exciting activities that you can take part in.

Festival of the Spoken Nerd
Spend your evening with this well-known group of geeky comedians, including Helen Arney and Steve Mould. On between 6.30pm and 7.15pm and then again between 7.30pm and 8.15pm.

Chemistry goes live
Dr Samantha Tang will demonstrate some jaw-dropping chemistry that your eyes won’t believe. Join Dr Tang from 6.30pm to 7.30pm or from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

Science quiz
Test your scientific knowledge and have a chance at winning one set of the longlist of the 2013 Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books for your team.  The quiz starts at 7.30pm and goes on until 9pm.

The atoms in your cocktail
Learn about the science of your favourite drink with Noel Jackson, Head of Education at Centre for Life. Alcohol will be served so this event is only appropriate for over those aged 18 or over.  Drink in some science from 8pm until 9.30pm.

Physics in the field
Have a go yourself at some scientific experiments with these drop in sessions.  Watch marshmallows expand before your very eyes or witness the amazing waterproof handkerchief.  Drop in between 6pm and 10pm.

Keep your eyes peeled for Albert Einstein, Caroline Herschel and Charles Darwin as they wander round the building.  Drinks will be available from the bars during the evening.
