What is it?
Party like it’s 1596 with the annual Tudor Festival at Stretton Watermill in Cheshire. The festival will have Tudor songs played on Tudor instruments, a herbalist, folk tales and demonstrations of ancient machinery.
You will be able to take a tour with the miller to see the wheat being turned into flour. Meet the herbalist and find out about her country cures or listen to the storyteller’s curious tales about the mill.
Don’t get too carried away with the celebratory atmosphere though, as the sergeant of the local militia will be on the look out for troublemakers. Anyone caught behaving in a dishonest manner could find themselves doing a stint in the stocks!
