Rub-a-dub-dub, one fool in a tub

By Caroline King - June 30, 2013Posted in : Alternative Sport

Tin Bath Championships 2013 - Isle of Man When: 13th July 2013 from 2.30pm

Where: Middle Harbour, Castletown, Isle of Man

£: Admission to the harbour area costs £3 for adults and £1 for children

What is it?

The 42nd annual Tin Bath Championships take place in Castletown, Isle of Man on 13th July.

The wacky races, which first started in 1971, involve competitors taking to the water in creatively decorated tin baths.  The winner is the first to finish, or in some cases the person who has gone the furthest without sinking (a common peril for these tin bath sailors).

If that isn’t crazy enough for you, there is also the Snake Race where six people race on an inflated tube and for the kids there is the Rope Drop.

The races are organised by Castletown Ale Drinkers’ Society with money raised going to local charities.
