The high street comes alive for Skipton Sheep Day

By Caroline King - June 11, 2013Posted in : Alternative Sport, Fair

Skipton Sheep Day When: 7th July 2013, 10am – 4pm

Where: Skipton High Street, North Yorkshire

£: Free

What is it?

Skipton means ‘sheep town’ and once a year the high street comes alive by bringing the countryside into the town with stalls, crafts and plenty of sheep.

The woolly entertainment comes in the form of sheep and lamb racing, shearing demonstrations, and spinning and weaving.  There will also be dry-stone walling, sheep dog demonstrations using ducks and geese, a petting zoo and live music.

Skipton Sheep Day An installation and show called Pig features a 30-foot long sleeping sow.  A farm-hand will invite people to take a peek at a 10 minute long, unexpected piece of theatre inside the sow’s belly.
