What is it?

The annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival which will take over Speyside in Scotland from 2nd – 6th May 2013, will not only showcase the very best in whisky but will also introduce visitors to both traditional and contemporary Scottish artists and bands.

The internationally renowned Speyside region will draw thousands of people from all over the globe to raise a toast in celebration of the amber nectar with a huge selection of musical events on offer as the perfect accompaniment.

Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival The five-day festival boasts a packed programme of 370 events based in various locations around Speyside, with music, drama and comedy shows being firm favourites on the festival agenda. Visitors can experience musical offerings of all genres with events comprising Scottish ballads, Celtic folk, world music and musical variety shows, ensuring a vast medley of melodies to suit everyone’s tastes.

Several events combine the best of Scottish music, food and whisky, giving a true reflection of the culture and heritage that lies behind the beautiful region of Speyside.

If you are interested in wildlife then you can join a Whisky and Wildlife Walk to the top of Ben Rinnes, Speyside’s ‘Whisky Mountain’, with the chance to spot mountain hares and ptarmigan or alternatively there is a Wild About Scotland, Wild About Whisky event at the Scottish Dolphin Centre on the mouth of the River Spey, where there will be a chance to see dolphins, ospreys, otters and seals before sampling local whisky.  Other whisky-themed events include a Speyside smugglers trail guided Landrover or amphibious Argocat tours.
