What is it?

Malfest is an arts and literary festival taking place in Malpas and runs from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th May.  Malfest has a varied programme of events including literary talks, live music, workshops, competitions and exhibitions.

There are plenty of free events taking place as part of the festival to enjoy.   At the Jubilee Hall there will be an Art & Sculpture Exhibition and the Sicily Oak Gallery will have an exhibition of modern British art, both of which are free to attend.  In addition there will be an Art of Falconry Demonstration outside the Festival Marquee at Broomy Bank, a children’s engraving and sketching workshop at the High Street Church and a literary quiz at the Broomy Bank Marquee; all of these are free events.

Garden expert Monty Don will talk at Malfest

Ticketed events include an insight into the Atlas Experiment at CERN with Kerry-Jane Lowery, acoustic music from Tom Monahan and Nick Pridding, and a talk from gardening expert, Monty Don.

On a literary theme is there is an audience with author Fay Weldon, and Claire Gillman will be explaining how to Make Your Writing Pay.  Music will come from a local blues band, the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra and Manchester Gospel Choir amongst others.
