Tenby harbour - Pembrokeshire - Contrary Life

The pretty town of Tenby is gearing up for its own film festival

When: 15th – 17th March 2013

Where: Tenby, Pembrokeshire

£: 1 – 7.50 depending on the event. Tickets can be purchased from the Fourcroft Hotel and Dales Music shop in Tenby or Walk on Water Sports in Saundersfoot.

What is it?

The south Pembrokeshire seaside resort of Tenby is hosting a pop-up film festival over one weekend in March.   From Friday 15th – Sunday 17th March five unusual and sometimes quirky venues will be transformed into cinema spaces, showing films to suit all ages. Films4Tenby is running the Rooms with a View festival to try to close the cultural gap left by the loss of Tenby’s cinema.

Locations include the top floor of a multi-storey car park, a Tudor merchant’s house and a hotel.  There will be morning, afternoon and evening showings.  The programme will include such titles as Lost and Found (2+), Shakespeare in Love (cert 15), The Shining (cert 15), Riding Giants (cert 12) and The Jazz Singer (cert u).

Beginning on 15th March, there will be short films shown by local film makers on the top of the multi-storey car park.  The high-octane action films will begin showing at 8pm and it costs just £1 on the night.  On Saturday there will be films shown at the Old Lifeboat House, Lexden House, the Fourcroft Hotel and the Tudor Merchant’s House.

The Tudor Merchant’s House is open to the public and shows the 3 storey house as it would have been at the time it was built in around 1500. The house contains a merchant’s shop, a working kitchen and a hall decorated with Tudor wall hangings and furniture.

The final day of the festival on Sunday will be showing Riding Giants at the Old Lifeboat House and The Jazz Singer at the Fourcroft Hotel.
