This year it features a varied programme of films including the following selection of visual delights.

I Wish (Kiseki) is a film about two brothers divided by their parents’ separation.  They learn that if you wish at the exact moment two bullet-trains pass each other your wish will be granted.  So the brothers form a plan to achieve their mutual wish. Helped by friends the two boys embark on a quest to reunite their family.  Hirokazu Koreeda, 2011, Japan, 128 mins

Keswick Film Festival - Nostalgia For The Light

Nostalgia For The Light, a visual treat, at Rheged IMAX

Nostalgia for the Light promises to be a visual treat.  One of the driest places in the world, the Atacama Desert in Chile attracts astronomers to gaze into the universe; searching for evidence and artefacts from the beginning of time.  Elsewhere people search among the pebbles and dust for bones, or fragments of bones.  Thousands of Chileans were abducted and killed, their bodies disposed of in the Atacama.  Forty years later their relatives still search the desert for any sign of them.  Patricio Guzman, 2010, Chile, 90 mins

Rheged IMAX is showing Nostalgia for the Light on 23rd February at 3.45pm

Keswick Film Festival - About Elly

A gripping tale of secrets and lies in About Elly at the Alhambra cinema

A tale of secrets and lies, About Elly comes from the Oscar-winning director Asgahr Farhadi.  Three Iranian families travel to spend time at the seaside, but it is not all pleasure. Ulterior motives, secrets, betrayals and tragedy lurk under the surface.  As they are having a good time someone disappears and things begin to unravel.  Asgahr Farhadi, 2009, Iran, 118 mins

About Elly is on at the Alhambra cinema at 8.30pm on 22nd February.
