What is it?
Go on an Antarctic exploration and discover more about Captain Lawrence Oates, who accompanied Scott on his last trip to the South Pole, in the galleries dedicated to the tragic expedition at Gilbert White’s House & Garden in Selborne, Hampshire.
Intrepid young explorers can then go on their own expedition within the 30 acres of gardens and parkland to find six species of Antarctic penguin waiting to be discovered and marked on the map provided. Your chance to say “I am just going outside and may be some time”, repeating Oates famous last words as he left the tent for the final time.
The Wild at White’s Family Antarctic Adventures will take place daily during the half term holiday, except Monday 18th February. If you are in need of refreshments after the expedition there is an award-winning Tea Parlour serving teas and home-made cakes. Free parking available a short distance away from Gilbert White’s.
