Three pints and a pram in Pagham

By Caroline King - December 21, 2012Posted in : Alternative Sport

Pagham Pram Race When: 26th December 2012 (Boxing Day)

Where: Pagham, West Sussex

£: 10 to enter and free to watch

What is it?

The Pagham Pram Race is apparently the oldest pram race in the world and takes place annually on Boxing Day.  The race begins at The Mill on Pagham Road and finishes at The Lamb car park via several local pubs.

The race first took place in 1946 when a group of demobbed servicemen decided to race, drinking a pint at each of the local pubs.  The prize then was a Christmas cake.

Pagham Pram Race These days the prams and the participants are usually dressed up and entrants have been known to come from as far afield as New Zealand.  To take part you must be over 18 years of age and all money raised goes to local charities.
