Aim to become a champion by clowning around in Kent

By Caroline King - September 19, 2012Posted in : Alternative Sport, Food & Drink

When: 22nd September 2012

Where: The Stile Bridge Pub, Staplehurst Road, Marden, Kent TN12 9BH

£: 40 per team (4 people)

What is it?

The World Custard Pie Championships, inspired by Charlie Chaplin, have been held annually in Kent since 1967.

The aim of the contest is for teams to throw pies at their opponents with points awarded for various throws, including hitting opponents in the face and using original and amusing throwing techniques!  This year’s championship will feature two special guests in the form of Rory McGrath and Will Mellor as they film new television series Rory and Will’s Champions of the World for Channel 5.

As well as the messy fun of the pie throwing there will also be live music, face painting and a hog roast.
