Wacky winged event in Worthing

By Caroline King - August 10, 2012Posted in : Alternative Sport, Cinema, Music

Worthing International Birdman, West Sussex When: 18th and 19th August 2012

Where: Worthing (the best place to view the event will be on the beach between the Pier and the Lido).

£: Free

What is it?

Created in 1971 in Selsey as a challenge to aviators, The International Worthing Birdman competition takes place annually with both fun competitors and flyers with more serious machines raising money for charity.

It’s not just about crazy people jumping off the pier though, there is a whole host of events and entertainment until 3.30pm on Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday (subject to the weather of course).  Entertainment includes Jet-Ski displays by the Xtreme Action display team, local singers, bands and a film screening.
