The Isle of Wight’s Garlic Festival takes place annually and celebrates the local garlic with a whole host of garlic-based food and entertainment.

There will be marquees with cooking demonstrations, local produce, food, arts and crafts stalls, a stage with live music, a fun fair, archery, mini train rides and children’s entertainers.  There is also an arena with entertainment all day such as falconry displays and circus skills.

The Isle of Wight's Garlic Festival, August 2012 Sample all sorts of garlic-based foods including garlic ice-cream.  There is even a garlic and spoon race and a garlic eating contest.  But it’s not just garlic, head to the tea tent for cream teas, perfect pastries and dainty snacks.  For something a little stronger, the beer tent will be serving ales and ciders made on the Isle of Wight.

Live bands performing over the weekend include Bootleg Blondie, Beached Buoys and Lucid.  Other entertainment includes a climbing wall, ghost talks by Mark Tuckey and a traditional Punch & Judy show.
