Football makes a splash in the Cotswolds

By Caroline King - August 22, 2012Posted in : Alternative Sport, Fair

When: 27th August 2012

Where: Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswolds

£: Free to watch

What is it?

This bank holiday Monday footballers will be braving the cold water for a game with a difference.  Football in the River is an event that takes place in the River Windrush at Bourton-on-the-Water and has been played there annually for over 100 hundred years.

The match lasts 30 minutes with two teams of six from Bourton Rovers Football Club.  It is free to watch but you may be wise to wear some splash-proof clothing as you will see from the video below!

If you are heading to Bourton-on-the-Water for the day there is also a fete being held in the village which should provide some added entertainment.
