Choo choose to Race the Train this August

By Caroline King - July 2, 2012Posted in : Alternative Sport

Race the Train, Tywyn, Saturday 18 August 2012 When: 18th August 2012

Where: Tywyn, Mid Wales

£: Visit the website for the entry forms

What is it?

Race the Train is a brilliantly unique race where competitors run alongside the Talyllyn Railway, and literally race the train.  Spectators may watch the race from the train, often the runners family and friends take the train in order to shout encouragement.

Race the Train, Tywyn, Saturday 18 August 2012 If you decide to give the race a go, be aware that it is quite hilly and can be wet so the correct footwear is a must.  The course is well marshalled and signposted and runners can elect to race for this year’s chosen charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care.  The Rotary Challenge is 14 miles, the Quarry Challenge is 10k, the Dolgoch Challenge is 5.5 miles and the Tynllwynhen Challenge is 3.5 miles.

The Talyllyn Railway is a historic narrow-gauge railway that runs from Easter to late Autumn as well as special trips over Christmas and the New Year.
