A word in your ear

By Caroline King - June 25, 2012Posted in : Festival, Literature

When: 29th June – 1st July 2012

Where: St Donats Castle, near Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales

£: Weekend: Adults 100, concessions 90, children 50 and family ticket 250. Mix and match day or evening tickets are also available see www.beyondtheborder.com.

What is it?

Beyond The Border is an international festival of storytelling featuring storytellers, musicians, poets, singers, writers and artists from around the globe.

Amongst the highlights is La Compagnie Nicole & Martin, performed inside an elegant white canvas and wood marquee. Telling ancient folk tales that promise to take both children and adults on a journey complete with the use of words, music, song, dance, juggling and acrobatics.

Also at the festival is Ramshacklicious who use character comedy, storytelling, live music and puppetry.  Their street theatre is uniquely performed from a mobile stage pulled by bicycle power (one cyclist carries three or four performers).

Michael and Wendy Dacre’s shadow theatre, Raventales, promises to transform the mundane into the magical as they allow you to enter other worlds and speak to the soul.

This year’s festival will be celebrating 200 years of Grimm’s Fairy Tales as well as exploring Myths and Legends of Celtic Britain.
