What is it?
The quirky Blackawton International Festival of Worm Charming takes place annually in the village of Blackawton in Devon.
More than just worms, the festival day begins at 11am when participants and spectators gather at the Normandy Cross for drinks and food. A parade then follows led by the Blackawton Morris Dancers. Fancy dress is encouraged and this year’s theme is the Wormcharming Olympix! Why not enter the fancy dress competition which is free to participate in?
At around 1pm there is a ‘Toast to The Worm’ and May Pole dancing, following that the parade enters the competition field for the worm charming. Special worm charming medals are presented to the winners.
In addition to the worm charming there is a dog show at the village hall and a beer festival with live music at The George Inn.
