What is it?
A female monarch achieves 60 years on the throne; a nation rejoices. Yes, it’s Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee and tonight we’re gonna party like it’s 1897. Be astonished by shows of burlesque! Marvel at circus performers and illusionists! Delight in knitting workshops with Stitch London!
Performances on the evening include a set by ‘chap hop’ sensation, a fusion of hip hop and steampunk, Professor Elemental. Burlesque artiste, Vicky Butterfly, will be captivating onlookers with her unique and theatrical dance routines. There will also be illusionists performing perplexing magic tricks that will leave you bewildered.
Into the bargain, there will be an expert led talk exploring Victorian fashion must-haves. David Waller will be giving an illustrated talk on the ‘father of modern bodybuilding’ strongman Eugen Sandow. There will also be an opportunity to make your own traditional coronation souvenir in one of the craft workshops and the bar will be stocked to prevent you from getting thirsty on the night.
Dress code: fin de siècle finery and steampunk chic. We are most amused.
The event is part of their late programme.
