Soulful folky Jay Leighton’s new single Icarus and Me

By Caroline King - November 20, 2011Posted in : Music

Jay Leighton, Icarus and Me Jay Leighton is an underground phenomenon of a musician.  Presenting remarkably well-crafted songs and a distinctive, heart-wrenching voice, his sound is said to be beautiful, delicate and genuine.

Icarus and Me is a mellow folky-acoustic ramble of regrets that reminds me a little of early Coldplay due to the sorrowful lyrics.  Although there is plenty of this style of music around at the moment, it is by no means unworthy of a listen and wouldn’t go amiss on a sleepy Sunday afternoon.

Why not hear Leighton’s music for yourself and listen to brand new single Icarus and Me, which is available now for download.

About Jay Leighton

A musical troubadour by trade, Leighton has played more than 300 shows and festivals over the past two years, joining artists such as James Yorkstone, The Miserable Rich and Polly and the Billets Doux on the road.

2010 and 2011 have seen Jay embark on tours with Lamb and Lou Rhodes in the UK and Europe, picking up new fans and friends along the way, as well as performing at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Cambridge Folk Festival and Jersey Live.  He was also chosen as a showcasing artist at this year’s new Norwich Sound and Vision Conference, a new industry festival.
