What is it?
Eye Spy Arts presents JEW(ish), contemporary theatre and puppetry, part of the SUSPENSE London Puppetry Festival 2011.
JEW(ish) is a thought-provoking work of theatre centered on an individual’s search for his cultural identity. Eye Spy Arts – theatre makers Liat Rosenthal and Oliver James Hymans – present a reworking of their celebrated theatre performance. The SUSPENSE London Puppetry Festival is the award-winning puppetry festival produced by The Little Angel Theatre.
The performance weaves together an imagined Jewish heritage with real family oral histories, stories and memories. Travelling from shtetl to city, from past to present, and from the personal to the political, Jew(ish) explores cultural identity and the sense of belonging.
