What is it?

Visitors brave enough to join the guided Ghost Walks at Basing House in Old Basing, Hampshire, on the evenings of Friday 28th and Saturday 29th October will have to keep their wits about them as they explore this fascinating, historic site.

Once the location of the largest private residence in Tudor England, Basing House offers layers of history dating back to the Norman Age.  During the Civil War Cromwell stormed the fortified building leaving it a burning ruin in defiance of owner John Paulet, the 5th Marquess, allegiance to the Crown.

So beware, because at night once the day time visitors have gone home, all that remains are the ghosts of those ancient battles that once took place upon this site!

More info: Booking is essential for the tours, which will go ahead whatever the weather.  Telephone: 01256 463965 to book a place or visit www3.hants.gov.uk for further details.
