Ghostly goings on in Winchester

By Caroline King - October 14, 2011Posted in : Theatre, Walks

When: 26th & 27th October 2011

Where: Winchester, Hampshire

£: 5 per person for the tours which finish at 8.30pm (booking is essential).

What is it?

The Discovery Centre in the heart of historic Winchester will be the starting point for two spooky walking tours during October half-term week.

On Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th October the Ghost Tours will begin at 6.30pm with tales of creepy happenings in the Discovery Centre itself, before heading on to find out more horrible histories in the Theatre Royal next door.

With spine-tingling stories from the Hyde Tavern and Royal Hotel in St Peter Street, plus the ghastly goings on in Royal Oak Passage and the haunting of the Eclipse tavern in The Square by the ghost of Dame Alice Lisle, participants will be enthralled by the eerie accounts of Winchester’s past.

And beware, it’s a new moon on 26th October, so be sure to bring a torch!

More info: For further information or to make a booking, contact The Discovery Centre via www3.hants.gov.uk or telephone 01962 873603.
