Theatre with a combination of circus and slapstick

By Caroline King - September 24, 2011Posted in : Dance, Theatre

Bash Street Theatre, The Lion Tamer When: 8th October 2011 at 7.30pm

Where: SpArC, Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire SY9 5AY

£: Adults 8, children 5 and family 26

What is it?

Bash Street Theatre present The Lion Tamer, a melodrama full of action, pathos and silent comedy from a bygone era.  It combines circus skills, slapstick comedy and live piano accompaniment to bring you a black-and-white movie show from the golden age of the silver screen.  A down-at-heel showman is rapidly running out of acts for his travelling circus when a stranger arrives in town.  When the lion tamer has an unfortunate accident, the newcomer is ‘volunteered’ for the job.

Inspired by the comic genius of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.
