What is it?
Shout! Shout! Up With Your Song! With Sandi Toksvig and Velvet Fist. Singing has long played an important part in feminist campaigning, from suffragette marches to chants around campfires at Greenham Common. 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of the first performance of Ethel Smyth’s suffragette anthem March of the Women. To celebrate, join Sandi Toksvig and special guests to discuss the role singing has played in the lives of activists and campaigners. Hear acclaimed feminist choir Velvet Fist perform songs spanning the century, and perhaps join in a chorus or two!
