Bristol’s Big Pirate Party

By Caroline King - July 4, 2011Posted in : Food & Drink, Literature, Theatre

When: 10th July 2011

Where: Bristol Harbourside

What is it?

For all you budding pirates out there, Bristol is hosting a summer party just for you!  The Big Pirate Party is a Treasure Island Extravaganza, helping to promote Bristol Old Vic’s summer open air run of RL Stevenson’s classic, along with beers and books.

While you are there you can see pirates pour off The Matthew and skirmish on the dockside at the Arnolfini at 11.15am.  Take part in the Fancy Dress Competition judged by Radio Bristol’s Steve Yabbsley at Redcliffe Wharfe at 12.30, or learn to Dance Like A Pirate.

Recoup for beer and book launches at The Grain Barge Hotwells from 2pm.  Meet highly acclaimed historical fiction author Helen Hollick, who’ll sign copies of her new Sea Witch series featuring Jesamiah Acorne – the pirate who puts Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow firmly in the shade!  Local author and publisher Helen Hart will sign copies of the exciting swashbuckling tale for teens The Black Banner.
