When: 8th March 2011 from 1pm
Where: Staines High Street
What is it?
Staines High Street will be transformed into a world of crazy fun as the Staines Charity Pancake Race is set to take place to help raise money for Staines Shopmobility. From 1pm teams are invited to register to take part in the 80 yard, pancake tossing, relay races which will commence at 1.30pm. Prizes are available for the best fancy dress, runners up and the winning team; everyone is set to be a winner just for taking part.
Since 2007 the Staines Charity Pancake Race has raised over £6,000 towards the running costs of Staines Shopmobility. Located within the Two Rivers Shopping Centre the service has already been used over 19,000 times enabling people to access the products and services of Staines. With spending cuts threatening to reduce government funding it is possible that Shopmobility may not stand the test of time without fundraising events such as the pancake race.
Joanna Hall, Centre Manager at Two Rivers commented: “The Staines Charity Pancake Race in aid of Shopmobility is a great event and hugely enjoyable to take part in. There will be children’s rides and sweet and savoury pancake stalls so there will be plenty going on to amuse the family.”
If you are interested in taking part, teams of two runners are asked to make a minimum donation of just £30. So why not go along to see how the race ‘pans’ out and watch the losers get battered!
