The verdict?
The Watermill Inn situated in the village of Ings is two miles east of Windermere and can be easily reached by road. Alternatively the nearest railway station is in Windermere. The pub is split into two bars, a cozy smaller bar and a larger bar. There are eight real ales on tap as well as the usual suspects. There are a choice of wines and coffees available too. For the hungry walker there is plenty of hearty food on offer with a board full of specials (vegetarian and gluten-free diets are catered for). They serve a mixture of beers (brewed on the premises) and a constantly changing selection of guest ales.
The inn has a nice warm and traditional pub atmosphere. The beer we tasted was some of the best we’ve had for a while. If you don’t want to worry about travelling home after a few too many pints, the inn also has reasonably priced rooms.
